  1. Since that is fairly small not long. I like mine fairly rare and I start it in a hot oven, 450 deg for 15 minutes. Then turn it down to 350 Deg for about 45 min. Best to use a thermometer. I like rare, about 140-145 in the center.
    The real question is where did you buy prime beef?

  2. If you are cooking it in the oven you should allow at least 20 minutes per pound. The roast should be cooked at a moderate heat such as 325° F. to 350° F.

    If the prime rib is a steak, it should broil on each side for at least four minutes after the broiler has reached its desired temperature. Broiler heat tends to be full oven heat. Stoves usually have a broiler setting that is clearly marked.
