How To Cook A Steak Without A Grill?? 10 POINTS? — 9 Comments

  1. I only buy rib eye steaks when I want a nice steak. And the way I always cook it is to place it on a metal tray and place in the oven that is preheated to 400º. I season my steak with garlic powder and black pepper only. Cook the steak for 10 minutes. Turn it over on the pan and cook for another 10 minutes. Then turn the temperature to broil to crisp up the fat.

By cooking it at 400º instead of broiling it, the muscle (which is the steak) won’t tighten up and become tough. You can almost cut my steaks with a fork they are that tender.

My father bought a cut of steak on sale and was expecting it to be tough because of how he normally cooks it (broils it). But I cooked it my way and he has now changed how he cooks his steaks to the way I do mine.

    Hope that helps.

  2. Under the broiler…takes just minutes… it depends on how you like your steak…and the thickness..about 7 minutes on the first side and 3 minutes on the other side…that is for medium…

    Set oven on Broil……

    Happy cooking…………..

  3. Coat it in oil, then place it in a hot pan (either steel clad or iron) to sear it for 1 1/2 minutes on each side, then turn the heat to med/high and continue for 2 min. on each side until it feels less gel-like to the touch and slightly spongy(med-rare) and remove from heat and let sit for a few minutes before serving.

  4. conventional oven or broiler or crockpot, etc and still keep them nice and juicy (and crunchy on the outside somewhat)?
    thank you

  5. Fry it in a very hot non-stick pan for about 3 to 4 minutes each side depending on thickness and then leave to rest while you deglaze the pan with wine and herbs to make a quick sauce.

  6. I usually brown the steaks in an cast iron fry pan and then finish cooking in the oven. They are awesome.

  7. brown it in a skillet… then make a good pan sauce for it, with some beef stock, onions, and mushrooms

ribeyes are generally tender cuts, so it doesn’t take long to cook, just add some flavor with the sauce.
